This blog is about movies, but more specifically it is about the feminist qualities to be found in current film offerings. This is a place for women to point out where movies buck the patriarchy. Compliance with the patriarchy being assumed is thus of less interest. There is a dearth of movies about women, produced by women, directed by women, written by women, and seen by women. When women appear in movies they are too often patriarchy compliant stereotypes: harridan, whore, madonna, crazy, girl-next-door, etc. While I have an interest in seeing women take stronger roles in film, this blog is not about making that message palatable to the mainstream.

I do not post trigger or spoiler alerts. I alert you now; what you read here may upset you in a variety of ways. I try not to detail the ending, but I’ve been known to break this rule. Read at your own risk.
